Are there any seriously color blind photographers out there?

I was born color blind, and have never known any thing else. No big deal other than getting dressed, needing some assistance at times, and having other drivers very annoyed at you when you stop at at 4 way flashing intersection, and your not supposed to stop ( I think its amber), and inconveniences like this.
But now that I have fallen in love with photography, I can see how this is going to be difficult. Everything coming from the camera if going to be easy to deal with (relatively), but now that I am "sticking my tow in the water", over at LR, I can't see how this is going to work out very well. Unless technology can save me.
That's why I would like to hear from another color blind photographer if there is one out there. On a scale of 1 to 10 of color blindness, I'm in the 8 (or a little worse) range. I cant distinguish red, green, brown, pink, many shades of blue, gray, etc. It depends on the shade, and what color surrounds them. I can see fire engine red, almost always, or bright banana yellow, or sky blue. Its the different shades of the colors that are indistinguishable from each other. Its almost impossible to articulate. I notice when I use a filter in LR, or touch the hue, etc, I no longer know what colors are in the photo. Anyway, Im hoping maybe you have heard of this before. Thank you.

Me, I would forget color, turn a liability into an asset, and work in black and white. Ultimately, though, it comes down to your artistic vision.

I agree, rather than trying to compete in an area that will be a stretch for you.  Focus on what is a strong point for you, and that happens to be B&W.
