So true!  Boating is ridiculous on what parts cost.  And anything involved with it.

Speaking of flying (which I do).  Even a smaller hobby of mine - RC  Planes, gets very pricey!

My wife is a Nova Soctia trained rug hooker (yes, she is a happy hooker). Besides the expensive frames and wool cutter, the cost of patterns and wool has probably out-stripped what I have spent on photography during the same period. Plus, he is always going to an event or school to learn new techniques.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Racing...by an astronomical margin. 

How do you think I was able to afford my gear? I made the wife happy and sold all the parts and the car. Bought an a6000 to start, then upgraded to A7rIII, 90mm Macro lens when I knew it was what I wanted to do, then put the thousands I had left over in the bank. 

Let’s just say it could have bought that equipment many times over. XD
