What year was the first digital photograph taken?

Don't look up the answer.   Guess first.  I was surprised.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 17-40mmL, 24-105mmL, 100-400mmL, 300mm f/4L IS, Sigma 12-24mm, 430EX, Extension tubes

1975.  The first digital camera was hand made by a Kodak engineer using the first sensor which was released that year.  It was couple of decades later, however, that digital photography became popular because at that time digital competed effectively with film in terms of image quality.  Today it outperforms film easily.

Look it up where? Everything I'm finding also says 1975. Either JPL or Kodak. At least, for what we consider a modern digital camera.

You cite what reference?

I'll take "No" for $100, Alex.

That's about a digital image and a scanner. The question was about a digital photograph.

Not the same thing in my book.

Yep, no cigar on that one.  That's a scanned photo.  Title says 'digital photograph take'.

So a photograph can't be scanned? We're now going to debate the meaning of the word "take" then....

I'll also surmise I was the only one that guessed prior to posting.

Fair enough. The original question is imprecise. I simply interpreted it to mean that the method of (original) creation was via the use of a digital camera. In that context, the creation of a digital image is derivative.

But a case could be made otherwise.

Yeah, the question was a bit vague at best. Also, where is the OP with their version of the correct answer?

I don't think Ruby gets onto the forum every day.

You know what, I screwed up my own question.  Technically, Oscar found what I was talking about.  1957.  However after reading the answers here, I realized my wording was off, and technically incorrect.

Whoops!  Well everyone now knows the first scanned digital image date is!

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 17-40mmL, 24-105mmL, 100-400mmL, 300mm f/4L IS, Sigma 12-24mm, 430EX, Extension tubes

Didn't matter, you also requested nobody search it and the first thing everyone did was google the question. I thought it was interesting as I guessed the seventies and had no idea a digital scanned photo took place in '57.
