"Sorry, I'm unable to take a photo with your camera"

5 years 6 months ago #610080 by Zorka
Have you ever had people come up to you when you are shooting an event and say "Can you take a photo with my camera?"

I've had a number of these over the years and I can't help to get annoyed.  I politely let them know that the bride and groom, or event host will get all the photos and those asking can order photos.  Some people are understanding, others get ticked off.

This is one of those things I just don't get. Don't people understand, this is how photographers make our livings.

Clearly, they don't understand. But now that you mention it, one should probably be prepared for the question.

I'd likely go with, "No, forgive me, but I'm on the clock." Not sure I'd take the time to offer anything else, but a lot would depend upon my mood.

Yup, "Sorry but I'm contracted by the wedding party to take pics only with my camera"......I had it happen a couple times long ago. The "on the clock" should work as well....

Why so serious?

While I've not been asked that before while on the clock for someone else, I think I would agree with one of those above mentioned remarks.  Turns out this is a good post.  Help prepare smoother responses for those that might one day get asked this question.  I'm one of them!

I'm the same way.  Some people just don't think before they ask.
