Wired or wireless shutter release?

I'm assuming there isn't a difference and this is all preference right? Well actually there would be differences, a cable will fire every time, but you are restricted to length of cable.  Where as wireless may not fire 100% of the time and you can trip the shutter from much greater distances from camera.

I seem to have lost my cable release and looking at options.

Which do you prefer?

I prefer the wired remote, but that doesn't mean the wireless don't work as well.....

Why so serious?

I prefer "yes". I picked up a unit that provides both options, and it's working fine so far. Aodelan unit. We'll see how it holds up.

I'm using an actual 'cable' release.  I prefer wired releases, fires every time.

I have a wired one I like.  But I'm not partial to either.

I'm using a wired release right now, however that's because I have it.  If I had a wireless, as long as it worked I wouldn't care which I had.

Depends. I went wireless so that I don’t have to be close to the unit and/or I use less hand movements to prevent  wildlife/birds from being startled. Even if it didn’t fire 1/50, I am most likely still slightly more successful

Just make sure that you check whether it’s IR or radio frequency. I try to stay away from IR because you have to be right up on the camera and you need to maintain line of sight, all of which makes a tiny signal area and higher risk of not firing
