365 photography project

I'm going to start a 365 photo project, 1 shot each day for 365 days.  The part I'm struggling with is theme.  I want to do something with a theme, so there is flow or continuity between the shots at the end.  However, on the fence.

I was thinking about photographing 'colors' or 'letters'.  So each shot would focus on a certain element.  Color I think will be vague, however letters would be fun.  Letters are all around us on just about everything.   That could be fun.

I thought about doing it on windows or doors.  Dang, I'm all over the place at this point.

Have you attempted a 365 project?  Honestly, what do you think of my ideas?

I would suggest something simple and easily managed, no matter the day, location, or weather. I've seen it done with portraits, and I have a buddy that is doing his second, again theme-less.

If you want a constraint, I might suggest a 30 day project to get started.

I like the idea with the letters.  Just on my desk I have the following things with letters: mug, business card, key to my car, back of camera, phone, pen, pencil, plane ticket, memory card and plenty more.  I think that would be an easy one.  Many of these would require getting super close in order to get one letter.  Or you'll just have to get friendly with crop tool in post.

Shapes would be another fun one.  For example doing it on circles.  That would be fun.

Dude, Gary gave you good advice on starting with 30 day.  I tried starting a 365 project and honestly got discouraged when  I missed a day, that turned into 2 days, and then I just didn't come back to it.  I wrote it off that I was only a few weeks into it, and wouldn't make it to 365.  Had it been a shorter more achievable goal of 30 days, I would likely have finished it.  AND gone longer.

If you do go down this path, post your photos on your social page for accountability.  That will keep you going out and taking that shot each day.

Good luck!

Color would be a fun option as well.  Although 365 examples of one particular color might be a challenge.  Just need to commit yourself before starting.
