Is theft still a problem with checking in your camera gear on flights?

So with those TSA locks on, if you have 2 of those on, would you think it would be safe to have partial gear in a case?

SKB has been making road  cases for musical instruments for a very long time. I have no reason to believe that their quality has lessened over the years.

The only  items I'll put under the belly of the plane is tripod and non-electronic gear.

People are still taking stuff that doesn't belong to them.  So nothing changed there.  Get a TSA lock, and pack all but your camera bodies and lenses for the checked bag.  All else, I carry with me.

My problem with the TSA locks is that TSA and airport personnel are the ones doing a majority of the stealing. So how does that lock help?
