Major changes coming to photography and DSLR sales aren't the answer?

I must be missing something here ...

"Gotcha..."?

100 yrs ago the horse & buggy was replaced by the motor vehicle
50 yrs ago typewriters started to be replaced by personal computers
20 yrs ago film cameras started to be replaced by electronic cameras
The world around us goes on ... and luckily for us, we're in the middle of it, so enjoy it :)

I see the mirrorless market growing while the DSLR market fads a tad.  Smartphones will continue to chip away at the bottom of the market, however mid tier and above will not be effected much from this market phenomenon.

Canon EOS 7D SLR | XT W/18-55 Kit Lens | Canon 50mm 1.8 | Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 | Canon 28-105mm | Canon 75-300mm | Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro | Canon 100-400

I believe we'll see a slight dip in camera sales, however all that will recover as mirrorless cameras will continue to drop in price.  Rather, manufactures will come out with more affordable models that will pick up the sunken belly of the market.  This sunken belly represents the folks who have picked up a smartphone and have gotten the photography itch.

Course DSLR's aren't the answer.  The masses want small and convenient.  Mirrorless is that answer.  There is no threat to 'photography', there will always be cameras.  Mirrorless, right now today, happens to be the young stallion where manufactures can stay in  front of consumer needs.

Just my 2 cents.

Mirrorless is the future, but nothing to worry about in terms of photography in whole.  I'm picking up a new mirrorless camera during next couple weeks.  But I'm keeping my DSLR.
