GoPro HERO 7 heating up very bad!

4 years 10 months ago #648118 by CatherineW
I’m shooting in 2.7K 30 FPS in Linear mode.  Within 15 minutes of this thing recording it’s super hot!!  This is the 2nd day owning this camera.  My HERO 6 never heated up.

Anyone else experience this?

Common issue

You'd expect they would have had a firmware update by now to address this.

You'll want to make sure the memory card you are using is on the recommended list  https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations

I have a 32GB Sandisk Card in it. Shows to be compatible.

Really?  I have one and no issues with the heat.  Did you contact their customer support?

It's like running 87 octane fuel in your suggested 91 octane motor.  My wife and I were just talking about this last night. We just bought a new truck and they recommend you use 91 octane fuel.  So you get a gas analogy from me.  But yes, if you don't have the right memory card in the camera, it will heat up.
