Upcoming cameras as good as A7III at similar price

4 years 7 months ago - 4 years 7 months ago #658566 by A-Perez
Are there any cameras rumored to be released within the next year that is comparable or superior to the a7iii in quality and at the same price approximately?
I can even go up to $2500.
A7iii costs $2000 body only if I'm not mistaken. If none of you suggests a comparable camera I will buy the A7iii.
Existing cameras such as Nikon Z6 are out of the question because I already decided that A7III is my choice among already-released cameras.
I expected to purchase a camera around next November 2020 because that's when I have some money coming to me.
Thanks.

Companies don't pre-announce availability because it destroys the revenue stream. So other than rumors, or typical events (think Apple's annual announce in September) you won't know for sure about anything. Only supposition, possibly strong, or not. And certainly nothing a year out.

Also: you can guarantee that any newer product will be better in some way than the previous, with a possible adjustment in price. That's kinda how it works.

The follow-on to the A7 mk III is the A7 mk IV, isn't it? So I think you already see the product line. I'd be surprised if something else was going to come out in that range.

There will always be something better on the horizon. Always. Figure out what you can afford, and meets your needs, and purchase. Since you're not buying for over a year, isn't your concern a bit premature? You already know what's available, and can watch the vendors. So suggest you continue to research and observe, and when you have the funds, decide and buy.

"There will always be something better on the horizon. "....
Yup, but do we always need the latest and greatest?
Camera bodies lose value tremendously, a really fine camera can be had that's a few years old, for a fraction of its "new" cost.
That being said, the A7III looks like a great camera.

Why so serious?

For 2,500 you can get a A7RIII if you want lots of megapixels.

Thanks, but I don't intend to print anything large and there seems to be no advantage in the A7R3 other than resolution.

The a7rIII has better phase detection for action shots as well.

It it really depends on what your needs are. For wildlife a7rIII > a7III, but for portraits and landscapes, the better low light aspects of the a7III might be better.

I was just looking at pricing of A7R IV, $3500 bucks for body only?  Pricey.  Don't think I'll be running out for that one.  Plus side, the used market for the the A7R III should soften up.

I intend to do mostly portraits and macro.
