Canon, Sony and Nikon make their own batteries?

Do each of these companies make their own batteries or is there someone else making their camera batteries?

They probably outsource most peripherals, but I wouldn't be surprised with Canon or Sony owning some of those subsidiaries....

Yeah, good point.  I saw a headline a few days ago on how a university found new battery technology that could extend battery life by 8X or something like that.  I was trying to find the article, gave up and decided to make this post.  Kind of wondering if these camera companies look for ways to expand battery charge longevity.    I want to say they were using sulfur something or another.  I really need to find that article.

I seem to remember reading that Sony and Canon made their own batteries.  Can't speak about Nikon.
