Using Stimulus Check For Camera Gear?

Kristy Blake wrote: Is there any right or wrong to spend my stimulus check on camera gear? My husband and I aren't agreeing on this.  As I see it, the idea of these checks is to 'stimulate' consumer spending, right?  If I'm buying from a local camera shop, I'm helping to keep that business open.

I don't see anything wrong with this at all, again my husband does.  Where do you stand?  Is this morally OK in your book?

If you are financially secure and know you will be for the next couple of years, then I see no problem spending it however you want. In my opinion, there are some tough times on the way and it may be better used for necessities unless of course you are sure you will be financially sound through this time. Unfortunately, mine will be sent straight back to Uncle Sam to help pay my yearly taxes.

:agree:   My thoughts as well, you may be good right now.  But I would have a good 2 years saved up as a cushion.

So my self-control did not live up to my expectations. Just tried to order a new Panny G85 online. I say "tried" because the order process ran into a snafu (Adorama). Will try to straighten that out tomorrow with phone calls.

Surprised you had an issue. Every order and return I have had with Adorama has been flawless. Appreciate you helping out the economy. :P

I did straighten it out by phone. They did not know what the problem was, said they would look into it. Phone orders may be more reliable than using the online forms. And there is no extra charge for an order by phone, so ......
