Will you trespass to get the shot?

I haven't intentionally, but have discovered a few times that I was some place where I shouldn't have been, No signs. So I apologized and left on friendly terms. I also had a bit of a problem when taking a photo of a mural on a city building, while I was standing across the street on the sidewalk. The artist was touching up the mural and saw me. Then came over and proceeded to yell at me, saying that I wasn't allowed to photograph it. I asked why, since I was on a public sidewalk and it was in clear view. She got huffy, so I just left. It wasn't worth continuing the argument, even though I wasn't doing anything wrong. The photo was for me, and not for commercial use anyway.

For farm property, I have always asked permission, explained what I wanted to do, and have never had a farmer tell me "no", but one asked me to take a few photos of his horses for him, and I did so in trade for his permission. When he received the photos, he told me to come back any time. It was well worth me doing this for him, as I went back several times later, each time making certain that he knew that I was there.

Pretty much here in NYC, you are always one step away from trespassing.  lol

It depends what you mean by trespass. I went into the grounds of a residential building a while ago to get a shot of a mosque, because the grounds to the mosque itself were closed. But I wouldn't, for example, go into that same building to get a shot from the roof or something. It also depends what you're doing. If you're going somewhere to get a quick shot, then that's different to turning up with a model, an assistant and a bunch of lights.

My favourite one was in Hong Kong though where I was challenged by a police officer (I know, it's not like the Hong Kong police to be overbearing) for taking a photo of something that was in their government-produced leaflet of things to see in Hong Kong. And not even with a proper camera.
