Best way to completely disinfect camera bought from Craigslist?

Dang, forgot I had a membership here!

I'm finally getting around to updating my camera gear after nearly 4 years of time off.  I'm meeting with someone tomorrow to buy his Nikon D800.  With Covid all over and I can't be safe enough, what is the best way to disinfect a camera without damaging it?

Leave it alone for two weeks.

G'day Jim

Be blowed with the two week wait ... put some methylated spirits onto a soft cloth and give it two good wipe-overs ~ 15 minutes apart

The 100% alcohol from the spirits x2 will say 'goodbye' to anything that might be hanging around

Hope this helps

Isn't it just 3 days for hard surfaces?   But 2 weeks will definately be enough time though.

Some surfaces offer shorter times than others
but yes, 2 weeks is on the very safe side of it!

It is not drooling free though!

Probably, but things keep changing as data comes in. Since the OP said "completely."  I picked a generous number, also to make a point.

Isn't that the truth.  Seems like every week they are changing something around.

Sure, this is science. This is a new virus, a new situation. More is learned
and shared every day.

BTW, I think your bag is a bit too much, a mask will do just fine, Mike!

Now would you say it would be safe to spray disinfectant spray from a distance?

Only after testing on a small. hidden area,
just to be sure.

Putting aside the mist, which should fall be protected with the weather seals, what's to test?

Unforeseeable chemical reactions with the seals mainly.

Disinfectants contain up to 70~95% isopropyl and both —
the contact with and the exposure to — may have reaction
potential effects through the solution and the fumes too.

Some of the chemicals could cause the glue to give way, discolor the rubber or just flat out dry it out.
