How to create time-lapse from night to day with out stoping camera?

I have seen some cool time lapses where it shows stars, then daylight. But how can you do this without having to stop the series and adjust your exposure?

use aperture priority or auto-iso.  or adjust your settings during the shoot.  you can use deflicker in post production to keep the exposure the same from shot to shot.

Such a good idea!  If I have both of those set, will the camera take the lesser of the two during exposure?

i would pick one or the other, and probably auto-iso rather than aperture priority. check out a few how to videos on youtube.

It's actually not a great idea. Each exposure may vary, and there's no explanation of how to deflicker. You need software for that.

What you are seeing is the result of ramping. Which takes a device. Start by looking up LRTimelapse and read about what it takes. There are very few pieces of software available, and it is recommended by pretty much everyone.

I am looking at purchasing a license soon. Got my 20mm f/1.8 and am planning a trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Start googling for how to create timelapses, and start reading. No one here has a reputation for doing those.

That's kind of brash, but I'm guessing you are talking about people not googling for things vs photography skills.  But I'm one that believes forums are for posting and asking questions as you wish.  I post here because I want to engage in a discussion.

Sharing is good.

I hardly see it brash to:
  1. Disagree with a suggestion, and offer reasons why;
  2. Explain the actual technical basis as an answer to the original question;
  3. Point out (repeating here for those in the back) that no one on this forum (to my knowledge in over 6 years) has demonstrated (shared) any knowledge of this sort of skill, by which I mean that any deep advice may not be forthcoming;
  4. Suggesting that someone do a web search after answering the question is not being unkind, it is saying that further, expansive work may be required. And by pointing to LRTimelapse, I've already provided data that can be used to narrow the search for apropos information.
Please re-read my post above, with a mind towards these points. I do not believe that I was the least bit snarky, impatient, or unkind, and actually provided useful information. If you disagree, that's okay.
