 Don't be shy, just ask.  I wouldn't be offended if someone asked me on a location I took the shot.

I never knew there was any discomfort with this.  I've been asked many times and I have asked others on locations too.  Not a big deal if you ask me.

I have never hesitated to tell them what country, city, or park, etc. but never where I was standing to take the shot. It's for them to discover, if they want the experience.

Got no problems with asking or being asked .  When asked  I  just tell them the general location  without any exact details .
