How long have you been in photography?

Excuse me posting all over the place here.  I just got my first camera (Sony a6300)!  Excited to be able to transition from just taking photos with my iPhone.  Well technically I can't yet because i don't have a lens, but I hope that will change over the next month.

I'm excited to be part of a photography community and would love to get to know others.  Hence my question.

How long have you been in photography?

When I entered university in science studies, I met the father of
a classmate who was then the scientific photographer of the ins-
titution. It just clicked and I learned right there with him.

I was 17 then. Now, I'm 23… for the third time! :P

…and I had an Instamatic 126 — that I found on the
back seat of a citybus before I was given the SRT101.

I had a Vivitar V4000 gifted to me in 1997, but I wasn't until I purchased a Pentax K-x about 10 years ago that I really started getting into photography.
