Keeping a dead cat on your mic at all times?

Dead cats are for shooting in windy situations.  But if I don't want to have carry the dead cat in my camera bag, can I just keep it on my mic at all times?  Is there any disadvantages to having this on the mic vs the foam?

I have one for my Rode Micro. Never take it off. Even a breeze can cause noise. I leave it on at home (indoors) too with no ill effects.

Mine are always on, unless there is some reason to take them off. With COVID, I have been replacing them and the foam mic covers any time one is used near someone, but if attached to my video camera cage, I don't.  It is cheap insurance to minimize the chances of spreading COVID. I'll likely keep doing this. I also use a commercial sanitizer on the mic bodies and cables after each use.

Always on here, it's just a good insurance for your sound quality.

I used to keep my foam cover on my mic all the time with my dead cat in my camera bag, but realized it made no sense to keep both.  So I ditched the foam, and just kept the dead cat on the mic.

Thanks everyone.  Decision made, dead cat is on my mic and the foam thing is sitting my my gear closet.
