Commission for a model based on royalties from a photo shoot?

2 months 4 weeks ago #745749 by Ben Vanderbilt
About once a month I hire a new model and get some new portrait shots.  To stay fresh and try new ideas.  I have a model release that I have them sign.  So here is a first and while I declined the changes, I'm curious if any of you have had something like this happen?

The model came back to me with my release form, all marked up with additional copy stating she is entitled to commissions on photos she is in if photos are sold with royalties?

Honestly I found a little humor in this, she was going to get paid upfront like any other model and she wanted commissions for perpetuity!

I haven't faced this problem, but it seems that it should be one way or the other, but not both ways. Either paid for the shoot, or commission on photos sold or used. Maybe you should find another model.

Huh?  If they are getting paid for the shoot, paying them a commission, doesn’t that create a double dip?
