Bird crapped on my camera!

1 year 5 months ago #748373 by Ted Helm
So, I had my camera set up aimed at bird feeder recording video today.  Mother nature called, and I need to get in the house to take care of business myself.  I wasn't gone much longer than 20 minutes by the time I got back outdoors to my camera and when I walked up to my camera, the right side of the camera was covered in this white mess I'll spare explaining any further!

I'm going to just laugh about this for now as I figure out how to completely disinfect my camera!!

Hopefully you were able to remove that quickly, as I understand bird poo is highly corrosive

Legend has it that being shat on by a bird is good luck.

"Legend has it that being shat on by a bird is good luck."

That legend applies to people, not cameras. Yes, it is corrosive and needs to be removed. Some sanitary hand wipes that come in small sealed packages is what I have used, I always carry some in my camera bag, but not certain if there is something better for the job. It is what has been available at the time. Just hope that a Sea bird doesn't ever target your camera, as they can carry a lot of volume.

I was going to say the same thing.  I would still count this as lucky for your photography!

Putting aside the mess, good luck is good luck.  I would take it and run!

Well this is a first.  Honestly, things could have been worse.  Were you able to get all that off?
