NFL sideline photographers

I can't image all those photographers on the sidelines are national geographic celebrity photographers.  I've been shooting our local high school team for years and often wondered how to land a gig for NFL.  Man, that would be great, but just not sure where to even start.  Who I would need to pitch.  Are those magazine photographers or freelance photographers who paid $$$ to be there?

Anyone know the answer to this?

I believe they're more likely to be shooting for Sports Illustrated than National Geographic.

Agree, most are freelance or on assignment for magazines and such

Talk about a dream job I wish I could have.  So I've done a little research on this very subject some time ago.

Well, let me tell you, my friend, it really depends on the situation. I mean, there are certainly sideline photographers at NFL games who are freelancers, but there are also those who work for media companies or the teams themselves.

You see, the NFL has specific rules and regulations when it comes to photography and videography at their games, and they typically credential photographers who work for established media outlets or the teams themselves.

However, there are also plenty of freelance photographers who are able to get credentialed through smaller media outlets or by working as independent contractors for larger companies.
