Iceland photography workshop - best time of year

9 months 2 weeks ago #754282 by Fess Walker
We are sitting around the breakfast table this morning and thinking about doing an Iceland trip this year.   Curious though, when is the best time of the year for Iceland?  I see people going year round, but is there a 'best time' to go?

What have the folks who do Iceland workshops said?

The problem with Iceland is it has become a tourist trap, have you thought about Greenland or Norway?

Go to Iceland in December and February. If you are there, take some memorable shots of the beaches' natural beauty and many other historical places.

I've been looking through flight dates and times myself and flights are pricey to Reykjavik (REK-All Airports) with cheapest flights nearly $900 for round trip.

I have a good friend who travels to Iceland 2-3 times a year and I swear based on the photos I have seen, there isn't a bad time to visit this country.

A buddy and I head over there during the first week of Feb 2024.  He's been there 6 years straight and this will be my first time.  He was telling me that during Feb/Mar is the best time for northern lights.  Which happens to be what is driving my interest.  Can't wait!
