Photography business advise and contracts

Hey everyone!

I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. Here is the thing, I've been diving into the world of photography and videography service proposals and contracts. I've been scouring the internet for resources and came across various websites offering templates. However, I'm a bit hesitant to download from sites I'm not familiar with. I couldn't find much in the way of reviews for these sites either, which adds to my reluctance.

I know the ideal route is to join a professional organization like PPA and have a lawyer tailor-make a contract. But at this point in my journey, I'm not quite there yet. I'm eager to learn more about how detailed my proposals should be, especially for local groups, and whether I'm ready to move beyond offering my services for free to local non-profits. We've all heard the horror stories of working without a contract, and I definitely want to avoid any potential issues with this local group I'm considering working with.

I'd really appreciate any advice or insights, especially from those of you who've been in this situation. What were the key things that helped you get started? Any wisdom you can share would be incredibly valuable. Thanks in advance!
