How many hobbyists are passionate about their photography?

3 months 2 weeks ago #760374 by Carter Gledhill
Being a photography enthusiast, especially with a focus on nature, marine and wildlife (which makes up about ~90% of my subjects), I often find myself extremely fond of my photos post-editing. It's a kind of pleasure I get from looking at them. I'm curious, do other hobbyists experience this same level of attachment to their work, or is this feeling peculiar to me?

Though a others or even ultra professional might have a fair bit of constructive criticism for my photos, I've not been formally trained in photography; my learning has come through this forum, on and off growing up and instructional videos.

The bulk of my photos is also nature.  It is therapeutic for me.  Like you, I don't have a high level of expertise in photography, especially with my spatial, mathematical and motor challenges.  However, I gravitate towards photography, and when I do manage to take good shots, I feel an enormous sense of satisfaction.

If you aren't passionate about your work, why even bother?  I love photography and love the journey it has taken me.

It became a passion over many many years.

In the beginning - almost 20 years ago - I started taking photos for my Windows desktop. That was the genesis.

Right now I am putting the final touches on my website and online shop. I get so many requests to purchase prints of my photos I thought I may as well do it properly.

Never thought I'd be where I am today. Weird how things change.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm a hobbyists, but I am passionate about my photography though.  I get out at least once a week for my own behind the camera time.
