Wireless memory cards

Remind me, what happened with these?  I seem to recall they were hot and seemed like a direction cards would go, and just realized, I don't see them at all.

Camera manufactures started putting wireless in the cameras, that's what killed them.

I don't think the speeds of the wireless function in the cards would stand up today

I seem to recall the speeds were very slow.  I can't even image how long it would take these days with a card full of 45mp photos?!

WIFI, the communication band that I heard was used by these cards is far too slow. The present WIFI wireless system used in cameras today is so slow that we all now use tether cables to send our photos to our computers. My Canon 77D cameras can send ~25 megapixel photos to my computer in about 2 seconds when using a tether cable between camera and computer USB ports. The same photo requires 8-10 seconds when sent from the camera to the computer when using WIFI. No pro photographer is happy when it takes this long to send photos to his computer. It's a nice feature to have available if there is some reason why a tether cable absolutely can't be used though. Still, you are limited to only a few hundred feet distance with WIFI. I tried using it when I started using my first 77D, but quickly went back to using a tether cable. The slow speed of WIFI is adequate for controlling things, but not for passing large blocks of data (photos) quickly. I suspect that those cards became quickly obsolete for this reason. WIFI just isn't fast enough for todays camera technology.
