Camera manufactures going too far?

Every time I dive into a new photography article, it's like, bam, there's another camera out there with some wild feature that's supposed to make everything I busted my ass learning how to do just... easy. I get it, for the pros needing to nail that perfect shot under pressure, these advancements are gold. But me? Focus stacking, AI-this, AI-that? Not really my jam. And sure, smartphones are turning into these tech-packed wizards, but does all that fancy tech really need to spill over into our dedicated cameras?

Now, don't get me wrong, autofocus is legit. It's pulling off stuff I never quite got the hang of. But it's like, is there a point where we're gonna say it's all just a bit much? Anyone else feeling like we're maybe crossing that line?

You don't have to enable those nonsense features - I operate my DSLR almost the same as my Exakta VX.

But you are paying for those features, so whether you are using them or not, it's coming out of your pocket for stuff you don't need.

Exactly!  I’ve been a fan of this thought for some time.  We pay for so much that many just don’t need.

Nikon Z6 | Nikon FM10 | Nikon D80 | Nikon 50mm f/1.8D | Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR | 35-105mm f/3.5 Macro | 80-200mm f/4.5 | SB600 | Pocket Wizard II

Well if you want my two cents, they add what they do to be attractive to the masses.  They can't make everyone happy so they take the 'shotgun' approach.
