How are you handling double bookings? I have a big problem.

How are you handling these?

Preference to older clients, first to secure, highest $$ for you??  What are you using to weigh the directly you go when to clients want you for the same day?

I have a situation where I'm booked for an older client, but it's a very small job.  And yesterday I received an inquiring for a monster of a job that is literally nearly 30X multi day gig, but it falls on the smaller job.

Looking for some advice here.  Thank you.

If you have to ask which is more important, ethics and honesty, or the dollar, you do indeed have a problem.

I get we all have bills to pay and sometimes as photographers our paychecks can be spaced out, or all over the place.  But I would check with the smaller client to see if there is any leverage in the date, perhaps offer them something to move the date?

Agree, communicate with the client, see about rescheduling would be best course of action in my book.  The above rude statement about ethics overlooks that we all have our bills to pay.  With that much gap between those jobs and let's be real, you are posting for opinion.  No wrong in my book.

Yeah, no shame in asking a question here, IMO that's what these sort of sites are for.  Razky has a problem with leaving comments of value or intelligence on this site.  Now you do have an interesting situation.  I get the finance dilemma you are in.  You owe the smaller client a call, and just do what you can to incentivize them on moving shooting date.   If the can't or won't move the date, check with the larger client and see if you can push that date or be out the one day, just like the smaller client , perhaps incentivize them as well.

Communication with both clients will be the best solution.  I'm a bit of an echo from what was already mentioned here.

ha ha ha, I never read his posts.  Not convinced he knows anything worthwhile.  Just negative person.  That said, I did speak with both clients and smaller client was understanding and we moved his shoot date ahead of the other client.
