How old were you when you got your first camera?

My grandparents gave me a old Canon film camera when I was 12, the camera was broken or didn't work all the time. But that was technically my first one.

I think about 8, it was a Canon AE1 from my parents. Couldnt put it down, went through more film than I can remember. Now I'm 30 and have gone through more camera's than I can remember and still using Canon.

My first film camera was a Kodak 110 about age 5 then by 21 I was working in a photolab, had several different format film camera's. I shot a lot of Black & White then too :)
By 27 I had my first Apple Quick Take 100 digital camera...the rest is history. Today I shoot with Nikon professional equipment!!! ..Canon for video.

I got my first camera when I was 18 before going overseas in the Navy. I later acquired, don't remember how, an old Canon SLR (ca. 1965), my first SLR, which lead to classes and my present passion for photography.

I think I was 8 when I got my first camera, which I still have (I'm not a hoarder, I swear). It's a Magimatic X50 (whatever that means). It was the type that had the cube flash bulb. I got my first really good camera when I turned 16... I wanted a car, my parents got me a camera. I guess it all worked out. :)

I was 14 when my father bought me a film camera. It had a built-in light meter and a mechanical focus-assist point in the viewfinder - pretty advanced for 1985...

I think i was about 14. Thought it made me look cool. I wasn't built to be a jock and I needed something to set me apart from the crowd. Little did I know I'd started a life-long habit that day.

I was a freshman in HS. It led to my being the student photographer for my HS year book for 2 years, then for my college yearbook for 3. That's the closest I ever came to being a professional. It's still a passion, but I don't make my living at it.

Not counting the Fischer Price toy nor the etch-a-sketch which I thought was pretty magical... I got my first camera from Mom as a hand me down. I was a Kodak that opened up into a bellows contraption. I don't remember a lot about it at the time but I was pretty young. I think my Mom took photos all the time to avoid being photographed.

10. I remember it clearly. My dad gave me a cool 35MM for my birthday that year. It came with a series of free classes at the store he bought it from. I was hooked from the start.

I think I was about 7 or 8 and it was a cheap 110 film camera. My junior year of high school I got a Pentax K1000. I still have the Pentax although I have not used it in years. After shooting digital I have no patience for film.
