Usage of Images

I recently did a clothing shoot. The designer promised the models, who all worked TFP, a CD of the images. Since I am a newbie I was wondering how this is normally done. I intend to have a clause in their model release that states they may use the images in their portfolios but not resell them. Normally should I refuse to give away the CD and only give them the amount of prints I agree on? Is there a legal form somewhere I can copy and edit. I seem to be getting alot of response from these people and may have more bookings coming up soon. I was also informed some major magazines might want to use the images. It seems to me as though they would need to pay me for that.

Have the designer pay you for the CDs that they promised to the models and make sure you put your name on the images. Nothing will stop people from using your work without compensating you if they are determined and have access.

Thank you for the info. Now I'll just have to figure out how much I will charge the designer?

You could charge $20/photo. If you shot 20 photos of one model, you would bank $400/CD. Now if they were group shots of the models. You could still charge $400/CD.

That's an idea and for a designer, $400/CD isn't much.

If you are worried about others using the images on the CD for other purposes, make sure the images on the CD are 800 pixels or less on the wide side
