Metadata

If one adds metadata to their picture. They upload the picture to a site. Someone steals the picture. Will the metadata still be on the picture? What I am asking is, do the sites like Facebook, flickr, smugmug, forums etc... do they lose the metadata information?

From what I know the data stays on Flickr and I have checked my stuff to verify that but I also know FB strips it off. For FB I only upload stuff I don't care about, if I care about it I share a link to my site for people to view my work.

:agree: I only upload a small amount, watermark photos to FB. Everything else I put on my site and link from there.

The exif info is easy to strip from the file. The safe thing to do is don't post anything hi rez, and post nothing you don't want stolen.....

Why so serious?

:agree: :goodpost:
If someone uses programs such as ACDsee they can strip it clean then repost it elsewhere. There are rpograms where you can trace your photo if it hasnt been stripped though. I use Tineye which can be used for free but has a daily limit on how many photos you can track. www.tineye.com/ It is a browser plugin so all you have to do is right click and tineye it. Also if the site you uload to allows it disable the right click option on the photo at the site, but the disabling will not allow it to work if you say post it here or any other forum. It will stop alot of people but then there are those who can get around the disabled right click if they choose to.
