How are you packaging the photo DVD to your client?

When I deliver the finished DVD to my client with all their photos, I feel the DVD's are so plain. It's not until they open the DVD in their computer things become impressed. I would like for them to have a sense of "WOW" from the moment I put the DVD into their hands.

How are you dressing up your DVD or packaging it when you deliver to client?

Why don't you put a label on it.

I do, however I still feel it's "bare" and could use some more life to it

Try making a nice looking insert to put in the plastic cover on the outside of the DVD case. Here's an example of one my clients, they wanted their photos enhanced and a slideshow DVD made.

You'll need photoshop, and of course some photographic material from the event. Here's what you do:

1. Create a document that's 10.625 inches wide, by 7.125 inches high. These dimensions fit perfectly in a blank dvd case (which looks much better than a cd jewel case IMHO ;) )

2. Now create what you want to put on the cover. Make sure the front material is on the right side, the back material is on the left side, and in the perfect center, make a title for the spine. Make the lettering between 1/4 and 3/8 inch high.

3. When done with your creation, collapse all the layers and duplicate. Then expand the canvas to 12 x 8 inches. That puts your 10.625 x 7.125 inch document within a 12 x 8 inch canvas.

4. Save as a JPG, take to your local Wallgreens and print out 8x12 glossy (Wallgreens is only 3 dollars  ). When printed out, cut the white border off the photo, and slip inside the dvd cover. Should be a perfect fit. Now you have a very professional looking presentation!

Big help Yasko! Very good post, now if you don't mind me asking what printer do you own? Or are you having these printed off at a professional shop?

I don't do any printing of my own, at least not at the moment. No need to, let a properly equipped lab handle that headache, I say. For regular photographic work I use a local lab, for metallic prints there's a chain I use called Richmond Camera that does outstanding work.

For a DVD insert it's not all that important, so you could get the 8x12 printed out cheaply at Wallgreens or Walmart. It's going behind plastic, after all.
