Nobody ever believes me, but a little under 3 years.

Indirectly involved since about 2002 when I learned basic post processing at a lab. After seeing the potential that digital cameras were starting to have about that time, I bought my first camera a few months later and learned a little. Didn't transition to actually doing portraits or events until about '06.

I acquired my first camera at age 11, and first 35mm SLR soon after, but I didn't really get interested in photography until my early 20s. I was into lots of other visual arts, but didn't have much respect for photography until I needed to take some photos for an illustration project, and was struck with how lousy my photos were. I decided to study it a bit, and it's been a 20 year obsession ever since. I can't remember when I first sold a print, but my first paid wedding was 14 years ago.
