Problem with aperture blades of 105mm lens I just got

13 years 4 weeks ago #41984 by Addicted2Photos
I just bought a used 105mm lens from a ebay seller and I'm noticing the aperture blades almost seem as if they stick a little. Do these ever need to be lubricated? Do lenses have a mandatory or recommended service schedule?

an example as to why you never buy used lenses.

as far as I know, the aperture blades do not need to be lub. I also do not think lenses have a service schedule.

I think, the seller knew what was wrong with the lens, and decided to sell it anyways.

Well Im guessing this is an older 105 Micro in which case if it is some of them had grese that tacked up after a few years. You will have to either try and get the seller to take the lens back or send it to a reputable repair facility. How are you checking to see if they are indeed sticking? This is why I never do any business on Fleabay/Eghey any more. You can try contacting KEH to see what the approximate costs would be to fix it, if the seller wont take it back, which as Crystal said they knew it was a problem before selling it.
