The 105mm lens, macro vs normal?

13 years 1 month ago #42536 by Slick Man
I was reading a blog post by a Nikon guy and it had me confused after wards. Are there 2 types of 105mm lenses? One made specifically for macro use and one for normal prime needs? If so how can you tell which one you have?

I'd rather be shooting!

One is the 105 Defocus Control and the other is the Micro. The DC allows you to control the depth of field after you achieve focus, it is an expensive lens compared to the Micro. The Micro is the macro lens but the beauty of it is that it is usable for all around as well. Some macro lenses are only good for that but the Micro series are good all arounds.

What is the price difference between the two?

As a general rule a few hundred dollars. Depends on the condition and who actually has one. I havent priced them in forever. You might look at KEH and see if they have the DC.
