What do you think of the Nikon D300?

I have a D5000 and just found someone who is selling a D300 and they are offering it to me for $750 and for additional $200 I can get it with a 18-200mm lens. The guy is going through a divorce and is selling a bunch of his stuff.

I'm going to meet up with him tomorrow to look at the camera and take some test shots with it. Was hoping to get some feedback from here first.

Thank you in advance.

Ken

What do you think of the price $750, what should I look for on this camera? I'm somewhat kind of new to photography, but thought this might be a good deal?

Thank you!!!

Atotal of $950 for that package, dont walk to get it run fast to get it. You can actually buy it and then resell it if you dont like it at a profit. I love my D300 and I think you would as well. Also rmember that if you buy it that you can use standard AF lenses and have them focus on it. Unless he abused the hell out of it then it is no deal.

I agree. Look around, check Amazon.com etc etc. Just be leery. Any time you buy used it's a gamble. If you aren't sure then take it to a camera shop and have them check it out. If the guy is on the level he'll be fine with it.

Yeah, I'm with the others. I bought my D700 a couple years ago, almost sold my D300, VERY glad now I came to my senses. Still a fine camera. Just look it over, make sure its in good shape, and get a receipt. .......;)

Why so serious?

Check actuations of the shutter, and check fhe sensor for flaws and let that decide. Good luck!

I have a D300 and the Nikkor 18-200, they're a good combination and you can do a lot of good photography with them. The price is more than fair.

So, you posted the message 4 days ago. What did you do?
