Tamron lens?

I just found a pretty good deal on a used 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 Tamron lens. I don't have any experience with this brand of lens. But seriously this is a great price I can get one for $60, used of course! I was thinking have it for a spare lens.

This Tamron is not generally considered a good / great lens but if it fits a hole in your lens lineup I say what the heck. You will only have $60.00 invested and if you like the focal length and find yourself using it a lot then you can consider moving to a better piece of glass. This lens can also be considered a "toss it in the bag" lens, a knock around, etc. Lots of photographers have this type of lens in their bags.

3.24 out of 5 isn't all that good. I really don't have a gap, but $60 bucks? I figured it could become a spare lens. I think I'm going to offer $50 bucks and just have it "incase". Thanks!

For $50 I would get myself. Keep it as a spare lens.

I've got one in Nikon mount that I never use. Bought it off of eBay several years back for about $20

Hearing that makes me want to go check out ebay :) $20? What condition was the lens in?

It was in great condition, even came with both caps. & hood....Nowadays everything on eBay seems to go for a lot more than it used to just a few years ago...

Isn't that a fact! :( I was thinking $20 was a killer price. While on the topic of equipment at good price, any tips on good places to buy used camera equipment?

I've bought from KEH, Adorama & Craig's list (got a 20mm F4 for #35 on Craig's list last year)...You have to be careful with Craig's list though.

I've bought only one lens from ebay, and I make it a rule never to do it again. They're almost always overpriced. Usually you can find the same thing at KEH.com or Adorama.com for 2/3 the price or less.
