Why did you buy YOUR camera?

13 years 3 weeks ago #49783 by DJMarcus
I had shopped around, researched and rented the camera first to see if my hands could handle the camera comfortably. I use my camera maybe 3 times a week. I'm very careful with all my equipment.

Sorry man, just checked my warranty card for the D3s.

"This warranty card is valid only in the country where you purchased this product."

It's LENSES that have international warranties.

I wanted a better camera. I had gotten to the point where my point and shoot held little in the way of challenges and new horizons. I spent a long time trying to decide between Canon and Nikon. I asked friends, read reviews, analyzed specs and finally ended up flipping a coin. Then I started robbing liquor stores to finance the project.

Bought my camera (Nikon) as I was already heavily invested in Nikon MF gear. Used to have Minolta MF, then Konica MF, both of which bit the dust with the advent of AF (the lenses did anyway with Minolta since they changed the mount)...Still have the old gear nonetheless...Need $$$ now to upgrade to something newer...

Cre8tivefix wrote: Hmmm... Well my first one was a canon rebel. I really wanted to try a DSLR, but I don't like spending money on anything. I bought that one because it was broken, really cheap, and had an issue I figured I could fix. I chose it over other broken cameras because my father had a canon and I figure I could borrow a lens from him for testing and because I could get a second body for parts if I needed them. From there I just kept fixing, using, selling, and using the money to upgrading to a newer broken cameras of the same brand. I currently have a 40D and am hankering for a 5D. I liked them, they were easy to work on, I know I can get good parts, I'veI got a few lenses of my own now, and they worked great when fixed up. :) So... as you can guess warranties, and extras aren't really what I shop for.

Yours is the best story. Your intro is so unique it is a bit inspiring.
After my Pentax I bought a Canon Rebel and a 70-300IS lens. Loved the camera dna since I had $500 invested in the lens, moved to the XT for digital. Now I have my XSi and have never regretted to choices.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
