Can you tell just by the look of a photo whether it was taken with a Nikon or Canon?

Depends on which team you are on Nikon or Canon.. Its all a matter of opinion or preference and what works best for you as an individual.

That is a really silly assumption, and I would love to know how anyone could do that. I judge an image by how wonderful it is to me, and not by what camera i think may have taken it.

Actually when the shot comes out of the camera, you can in some ways, depending. Canon skies with their blue tone/hue are VERY distinctive. As distinctive as the famous "Minolta Blues". Case in point, this shot here When I see a shot with that tone, I know right away.

No, no, NO NO NO.

That is wrong.

I do editing for a living, too many variables come into play for this to be even REMOTELY possible.

Awesome shot btw.

I would say VERY few would be able to tell this, and I'm guessing luck has much to do with the answer.

Canon messes with red channels more, nikon messes with green's more....but honestly there's way too many variables, such as lighting, composition, distortion, electromagnetic radiation intereference, camera settings to be able to tell.

I told a lot of the other editors for MGM, Unity movie group, reuters and getty's about this, and they laughed for at least 10 minutes.
