Taking a picture of an egg

I have seen photos of eggs standing upright. How do people do this? How can you get an egg to stand upright and stay there long enough to get the shot?

Put down a little salt, set the egg on the salt and blow away the excess salt. Might take a couple tries to get the right amount of salt.

No matter how fast I go, there's always someone slower in front of me.

Thanks, I will try that.

Have you actually done it this way? Or just known how others do it?

Now you're going have to tell us where you can buy floating eggs.

Chuckle...
This is a really simple trick, and can be done much better than my example... I promise! So hope you give it a go.

1> Punch a small hole toward the egg top, and bottom... on one side, of course. Then blow out the inside so you're left with an empty shell.

2. Use a piece of posterboard as backdrop, and punch a hole to push a wire through to support the egg through one of the holes.

3. Then adjust your light so the wire doesn't make a shadow, or if you have problems... clone it out if necessary.

It's an old trick we used in the days before digital. You can also float the egg over a lighted candle, or other object.

Have fun.
