Haven't bought any new memory cards lately, but I use SanDisc Pro level CF cards & they give you recovery software with the card when you buy it (I have Extreme III CF cards , not SDHC )

 Really? When you bought the CF card, they gave you a recovery softwre together?Well,I have to tell, this 'recovery softwre' must have different functions with the one I shared.Have you ever used it to recover deleted pictures from your card or recover picture after you format your CF card?:S

Formatting doesn't delete any of the pictures. It simply creates a new directory. So, all your images will be there -- IF you haven't written over them.

Most all cards come with an image recovery tool (software). I know Lexar and Sandisk do. It is usually on the card when you get it.

If you missed it, go to the card maker's web site. I'm pretty sure they will have an area to download it.

Matthew :)

Never had the to need to use the recovery software, so I couldn't say how it works. You can download it from the card makers website but I think they charge you to do so...It's called RescuePRO...I'm sure Lexar has comparible software as well

I accidentally formatted a Sandisk card before copying the files. RescuePro worked great for retrieving them.

If you have accidentally formatted your SDHC memory card and are going through a photo loss situation then don't bother. As now with the use of PAID SOFTWARE LINK REMOVED software you can get all your pictures back even from formatted memory card.

Thanks for sharing! Now I know that when we buy a memory card, they will supply data recovery software. I do not know how the restore effectiveness of this software is. In addition, photos shot by my Sony digital camera photos are RAW format. I do not know whether it supports recovery of RAW format photos. I also found a Sony picture recovery tool via Google. I will submit trial experience of all data recovery tools ASAP.:)

Thanks for your useful post. After experiencing similar deleted memory card photo loss problems several times. I
also have learned several steps to take the previous information back from
memory card:
Firstly stop saving anything on this memory card and also do not format it in case of farther data loss.
And then, insert it to your PC with card reader and check whether it can be read well there.
And then, download and install formatted memory card data recovery software there to check whether your photos could be
recovered completely.
Read more detailed information here:

Moreover, also learn a lesson to prepare data backups well from now on.
Hope these words can help a lot.
