What would you consider to be the all time must have lens in your camera bag?

Must have lens is the 70-200mm. I really can't live without it. A really nice fast lens, that I can use to shoot portraits or nearby wildlife (if I see anything interesting going on)

My Tokina ATX PRO 28-80 f2.8, it covers most of the focal range I use and is plenty fast.

Nikon D200
Nikon 50mm f1.8D, Tokina 28-80 f2.8, Nikon 75-300, Sigma 18-200, Nikon SB-600, Nikon SB-25, Promaster triggers

The 50mm 1.4 prime! Makes you work a bit harder, and you will miss some shots that you'd like to have captured, but the end results are worth it. :)

You should start with reality and thats a 50/55mm preferably down to 1.4 at least pleanty of time to get artistic later ;-)

Yes I agree, and a lot of companies make good ones. Sigma in particular make a beaut.

My Canon is great...would like to have a wider one, say...28mm. Can't afford the wide zoom, but how do you rate Sigma in the 28mm or even 35mm primes? My wallet is small, unfortunately! Would value your opinion!

Try a Tamron 18-200 or Sigma 18-200. With the rebate, you could get the Tamron for $225. Both take excellent photos and you won't have to use any other lenses. If you will be taking nature shots in bright daylight, you might want to also get a tele-extender.

I still like my AF Nikkor 50mm 1.4 (Non D), and Crystal is 100% right .... when you nail a shot with your 50, It'll be awesome!

It is what it is.

I agree on the 50mm prime lens as well!
However, if you're on a budget, the 50mm f1.8 II is always a must for all photographers! :)

Sample photo below when I first got it.

My favorite lens is the 24-70mm f/2.8 followed closely by the 70-200mm f/2.8!
