Taking a memory card from camera and putting it into another?

I was wondering, is there any risk of memory card getting corrupt if you take the card from one camera and the memory card has images on it already. Then you place that card into another camera and take more photos? I know it is suggested to format cards when placing into a camera, however formating for the new camera would erase all the images.

I've switched cameras with my SD cards before and haven't run into any problems but i also reformat my cards frequently like before every shoot

If there is nothing wrong with the card or connectors there should be no problem. I routinely switch out cards and swap with different cameras. I also tend to leave on old images until the card gets nearly full then reformat, especially if I am going to do a lot of shooting. I have never (knock on wood) had a problem with a card. I used both XD and SD cards.

Memory cards are pretty inexpensive these days, I just keep a few on hand. No need in swapping out from one camera to another.

I've never noticed any problems swapping them between my Canon DSLRs. I don't actually ever swap with the intention of saving the previous pics, but I always check to see what's on the card before I format, and sometimes I forget to format.

I shoot with D200`s if I use a card and then put that card in the other camera I won`t see the images from the first camera, plus there is a chance of corrupting the card. You will see both folders in your
processing software though.

I have swapped memory cards from camera to camera while shooting without any problems. I do format my cards after I download the photos to computer. I do have several memory cards but sometimes I just want to keep the same subjects on one card.
