I would like to buy some manual focus lenses and need some help please

I have a limited budget and was told that manual focus lenses will work on my D80 and cost must less then newer auto focus lenses.

Can you point out some desired manual focus lenses? I don't have a specific area of photography I focus on, so will like to look at as many recommendations as I can. Thanks for the help.

Not all older lenses will work on D80, see this chart.....

What do you like to shoot?...Do you want primes, zooms or both?...For most shooting, manual lenses work fine. It takes a bit more planning to shoot fast action situations. Your camera's meter isn't functional with the older MF lenses. You have to get your exposure by "Sunny 16" to get in the ball[park & then rely on the LCD & Histogram to fine tune the exposure...It's not as hard as you might think...

That chart has errors that I have tried to get them to fix, but they remain...Plus it doesn't mention 3rd party lenses. Most 3rd party Pre-Ai lenses will work on any Nikon DSLR as the aperture skirt is flush with the mount face )unlike Nikkors which extend down past the mount face)...Ken Rockwells chart on compatibility is accurate (although some of his reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt)

Look on craigslist. There are alot of people selling older lenses for cheap. If you are not sure if such lens will work on your D80, ask the seller if you can come see if the lens will fit and work. If you like it, buy it on the spot.

Most reviews by most people are in some ways biased, and need to be taken with that old grain of salt. I find his site very informative. If there are those that don't like what he writes, they shouldn't look. That being said, I found a couple errors in his list , too.

For your D80 or any Nikon with an in body focus motor the lenses must be Ai and newer. KEH has quite a few as does UsedCameras. The model older that Ai will not damage the mount but will damage the screwdrive on your motor. The bodies without a motor will work with any f-mount glass. As far as what lenses to get all of the older ones come pretty much in the same zooms and primes, so you just have to decide what you want.

Never heard of usedcameras, on site now. Have you done business with this company before?

True, but their inventory isn't as large as others. I bought a teleconverter from them. No problems, fast shipping.
