the only aspect of that article i really agree with, is the fact that older models will drop in price. otherwise unless you are planning on dropping 2-3k on a laptop, none of that shit is gonna matter. the low-mid, even upper mid-range laptops arent going to significantly get better, nor will they drop hundreds of dollars. Its only the old top end laptops that will seem like a better deal.

But ultimately the whole article is a lie. They outright state that its not just about a specs upgrade... but if you look at every single anticipated feature they listed... it IS essentially a spec upgrade

Ivy Bridge - Increased performance.
SSD - Increased performance
Slimmer - Okay... not exactly revolutionary... i would consider "smaller" to be a spec upgrade though
Better Display/Graphics - Again, Increased performance.
Better Battery Life - Increased performance
New OS's - Probably increased performance/newer features.

None of these things are truly revolutionary or a "massive rethinking". they are just doing what they have been doing in computers for 20 years. putting newer hardware into smaller bodies. If the current models exceed your requirements... theres no need to wait 4+ months in the hope that you get a better deal. cause quite frankly something new will likely be coming out in 6-8 months after that, and this whole cycle repeats.

If they had said macs were going to be shipping with touch screen interfaces... or laser eye tracking tech to replace the mouse. or replacing the keyboard with a touchscreen/virtual interface so you could have dual screens when not using the keyboard.... (i picture kinda like that handheld nintendo system out now, with the screen on the top and the bottom). that to me is what might be considered revolutionary or a massive rethinking.

Upgrading the graphics card, processor, hard drive, battery... is not a rethinking. ITS A SPEC UPGRADE.
