Awesome shot, what was your setup, and how close were you?:)

Thanks Scotty. I was shooting with a Nikon D90 and a Nikon 70-200 2.8. I'd have to look at the EXIF to be sure but I want to say I was shooting Aperture Priority opened all the way up and hitting 1/2000 at ISO 200. I was sitting in the 1st base camera well at the end of the dugout. This is a minor league team in my area. You'd be surprised what you can do if you ask. I told them I was a freelance photographer trying to build my sports portfolio and asked if I could get a pass to a game or two and they gave them to me. It actually turned into shooting a little bit of HS sports for a local paper as a stringer. I did the same thing for another local minor league team the next season.

That's strange. I would have thought the bat would have been bending the opposite way due to the power of the swing. Cool!!

I think the image is just after the moment of impact, rather than just before.
