Dyson no blade fan?

I saw one at Best buy & thought it was pretty cool. I wouldn't pay the price either, but I would so love to shot a pic of someone in front if it to see what it would look like.

:agree: :goodpost: Nice explanation, indeed. Bernoulli's Principle is the basis, particularly the air foil application, and it all makes good sense. Except the price. Not even Costco can bring it down to possible consideration. And the explanation does not preclude the presence of emotionally charged hamsters...

LOL Hamster and hamster feed sold separately.

I am tempted to see if I can make something similar though. Been banging around in my head since I saw this thread yesterday.

Yes I too was put off by the price. Thought it was cool and all but I actually like the White Noise a fan produces. I sleep to it every night, I live near train tracks and we get a lot of trains all night long so it helps.

I can't work out if they suck or blow....

I've seen something like that around here. Put my hand though the middle and didn't get it chopped off, so that's a good sign.

The fan blows ... the price sucks.

I like the "buffeting." My ceiling fan is right above my computer and those multiple bursts of air are more refressing than a steady stream IMO.

Sure, practice makes perfect but, unless you learn from your mistakes, you are only perfecting your ability to fail.

I guess that the principal is the same or related very closely to the venturi effect that was used for years in automobile carburetors. It uses that smaller diameter portion to speed up the incoming air & in effect pulls in additional air (& fuel in the case of the carburetor).

I kina wish they showed what a ceiling mounted version looks like, it might be worth the price if you could get some photos of peoples’ faces when they first look up at it.

Yeh but is it sucking so it can blow, that's the question.

I've seen them in Best Buy, and they are pretty neat! I walked by and felt the air but didnt see a fan anywhere. After a little more looking, saw these and had to check them out.
