How many musicians are on PT?

After Scotty and I had a little conversation about guitars in another thread, it got me wondering how many people on this forum are also musicians of some sort. I'm sure among a group of creative and artistic people there must be some!

So, if you're a musician, what instrument(s) do you know how to play?

What specific instruments do you own?

At what level do you play (paid gigs, hiding in the basement hoping nobody hears you, part of a band, etc.)?

To answer my own questions...

1. I play guitar for the most part, it's the only instrument I'd actually say I'm any good at. I can play basic fundamental bass, but nothing fancy. I've dabbled a little with piano, drums and other percussion.

2. I have a Martin DC16 with the Fishman Aura pickup system , a Martin DM , a Fender Fat Strat and a Seagull Entourage Rustic Mini Jumbo . I also had my first Martin (also a DM), an Ibanez acoustic guitar and my first Fender Strat stolen when my car was broken into while hauling all my gear several years ago.

3. I'm the leader of a band that does music for my church. Had a few paid gigs before too, and just got a recording offer (not a big record company or anything, just a guy looking to build his portfolio for the recording industry after getting his Masters in audio engineering).

Guitarist here.

Martin d28 dreadnaught, fishbone pickup.
Prs custom 22..dragon 2's i believe?
Gibson les paul 56, original.
Fender 57 tube amp.

Played in a few bands, opened for the band mudvayne years ago when they were bigger.

Just play for fun now.
When the last candle has been blown out
and the last glass of champagne has been drunk
All that you are left with are the memories and the images-David Cooke.

2011 LAG TN100ACE acoustic electric

still learning at the moment, took a break from playing trying to get back into it again. picked up the LAG as incentive to play again B)

Drummer here. Played steady for over 20 years from cover bands to a touring label band to some small local indie recording bands here in Canada. Haven't played much in the past couple of years but kind of missing it, so looking for possible weekend cover gigs.

I reduced my gear down to a my custom Obelisk kit I had made in the late 90s, based around a 1945 Gretsch kit I was using at the time.

Fun stuff. :)

Guitar... and drums. (It's been a few years since i've played though)

I dont have the drum set anymore. Sold it a while back.

I still have all my guitar stuff though.

I have two 48 year old fender acoustics. One is a 6 string and the other a 12 string. (were my dads when he was younger).

A washburn strat style electric w/EMG pickups.

A Jackson Kelly Pro (black) w/EMG's and some extra tone controls i wired in.

I have a full stack.
For the head i have a rack mount Samson Wireless, a rack mount ADA MP2 Pre Amp, rack mount ADA MicroTube 200 Power Amp, and and a rack mount Alesis 30 band (per side) EQ.
For speaker cabinets i have an Ampeg bottom cabinet and a marshall top cabinet. Four 12"s each.

I studied piano and played clarinet in middle school and tenor saxophone in high school.
I no longer play because I don't own any instruments.
A photo is more than just a picture. It is a moment captured in time.

If i could do it all over again, I'd pick up the piano. Hands down.

I suppose i could pick it up but i'll be old and grey by the time i actually have enough time to do so.

Same here. Piano and violin for me. Guitar is awesome though.


I stopped by guitar center today and picked up an iRig for my ipad and i'm having sooooo much fun playing with it. Pics incoming.
