What phone service do you use for land line?

13 years 3 months ago #21282 by Casey T
It's time for me to get a land line. I have been using just my cell phone for so long. I have been thinking about Vonage or that Magic Jack thing I see advertised on TV. Anyone have either of these? Vonage is like $25 per month and that Magic Jack is $20 for the year, or something like that??

Thanks for the 411

I think you are the first person I have heard of that was ADDING a land line. What is the purpose and what type of calling (in-state, national, international) do you make/receive?

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I have Magic Jack & have had it for about 3 years...You need to have high speed internet service in order to be able to use it. The unit plugs into a USB port & then you attach your phone line to it. If you use a wireless phone, you can move around your house. I just use a wired unit as we use our cell phones for the most part & the Magic Jack is usedfor calls to places like insurance companies & whatnot where you may be on hold for awhile...I have had problems with outgoing calls, but that was a software glitch causing it & it went away when I upgraded to Windows 7...It's $40 for the unit & one year of service & then $20 every year thereafter...

On hold with insurance companies> Can that happen? :toocrazy: And they call them customer service lines, right?

Thank you for the input, I'm always on the phone, and my cell phone bill is always near $200 per month. So I'm going to cut down on my cell phone bill package and spend more time on a cheaper land line phone.

I've used Vonage for about 4 years and recently moving to Cox communications all you can eat plan. I would rate Vonage a "7". Cox is suppose to be much better, so we will see.
