Spicy or mild?

I notice several threads on food, so I'll start one that's an ongoing battle at my house. Spicy or mild. My wife won't touch ANYTHING that's the least bit spicy. She thinks soy sauce at our favorite Chinese restaurant is spicy. And forget about taking her to a Mexican restaurant. Me? I eat chili-garlic sauce right out of the jar with a spoon. Thai chili squid? Yumm? Mexican food with jalapenos? Can't get enough.

So, here's the question. Who's down for hot? How hot? And who votes mild?

A little spicy for me. I love thai food.

My Korean brother in law will add Chili to spice and Chili to Chili and Chili to Chili-Chili with spice on top.

Personally I don't mind a little spice. But I have limits.

I have to weigh in on the mild side. I'm not even a great fan of too much black pepper. Anything more than that and I can't eat it.

I like a good kick to virtually anything. There is a limit though. If it's so hot you can't taste subtleties in the food, then what's the point?

Now, spicy candies (mexican candies, red hots, and mike n' Ikes) - what's the deal with those? Does anyone here find hot candy kind of weird?

Spicy, of course. There's nothing like a plate of deep fried iguana eggs (chiles stuffed with cream cheese and deep fried in a batter). Add a pitcher of frozen margaritas and you're set for hours.

Hot, but edible hot. I don't want it so hot that I can't taste the food and I'm on fire for hours afterwards, but one of my favorite meals is a plate of cheese and chicken enchiladas smothered in spicy green chile.

Mild. Good food should be prepared so that all the ingredients blend together in a subtle symphony of flavor, no one thing overpowering any other.
