Don't you love to come across old family photos?

I came across these old photos and just wondered about the equipment and processes used in preserving these memories.

My father as a member of the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department. (second from left)

My grandfather and his work crew. (also second from left)

Anyone else dig up old family photos?

Yes, not too long ago, my mom wanted me to put together a montage of all the family photos that she had. There was alot, that I had to scan in, and put together in photoshop. A few years ago, my parents lost their house, well I believe alot of family photos were left behind, unfortually. So I put together the pictures my mom did have. So then, my father decided to include pics from his family.

In the end, I made several montages.
1 of my sister and I growing up (school pics) plus 3 family shots (sister and I, and parents)
1 of my parents (from when they were kids, to when they met, to now)
1 of my cousin (who is close to the family) and her 2 children.
1 of everyone on my moms side of the family
1 of everyone on my dad's side of the family

Alot of the pictures I have seen before, but some I didn't. It was nice to look through all of them.

i recently tried my hand at using PhotoShop to partially restore some old family photographs. Some of them were quite badly damaged and I couldn't do too much, but I managed to make some improvements on several. Here are two of them:

My paternal Great-great grandfather and siblings. Circa 1880.

My maternal aunts. Circa 1917.

I also have several my dad took with a Kodak camera while in the Navy during WWII. And an entire album of late 1800s photos in rural Colorado.

I love literally holding history in my hands.

Nice job on the restoration. It is a tedious process.

I have a load of old photos that I want to get scanned onto my computer. Some of them we don't even know who they are.

My grandfather was a keen photographer who developed his own films, I never thought of it before but perhaps photography is in my genes!

My grandfather was also a photographer. However, I never knew this until 3yrs before he died. So by this time, he was really going down hill and I never got the chance to talk to him about photography.
